「Brachyspira」投稿規定




執筆要領

論文は英文で作成することが望ましいが、英文の投稿規定等、及び以下の記載を参考にして和文で作成した論文等の投稿を認める。英語を通常使用言語としない著者は、native speaker等による適切な英文校正を行ったのち投稿するとともに、不適切と思われる英文記載は、査読にあたり、修正や不受理の対象になる恐れがある。なお、原稿の作成に当たってそのスタイル等は、英文の投稿規定(Instructions for Authors)に原則として従う。




技術報告投稿規定

技術報告(Technical Note)は、従来の論文形式の報告になじまないもので他の研究者にとって有益な、ちょっとした実験技術上の工夫、変更、注意点あるいは失敗事例等を簡潔にまとめたものを掲載する。とくに、従来の報告では埋もれてしまう、「こうすると上手く行かない」といった失敗事例も、有益な情報として積極的に掲載する。投稿されたものは、原則として編集委員会で査読し必要が有れば修正を加えた後、「Brachyspira」に掲載するが、別刷りは作成しない。

Instructions for Authors

Aims and Scope

Brachyspira’ is issued once a year, one volume a year, by the Japanese Society of Brachyspira and the purpose of the journal is to publish results and information relevant to Brachyspira. ‘Brachyspira’ provides a medium for publication of review, original results, proceedings of special lectures, symposia and workshops to the meeting of Japanese Society of Brachyspira and short technical note. (See special information for technical note)

Submission

The manuscript must be written either in clear, grammatical English or Japanese, and authors are requested to submit their original manuscript and figures with two clear copies to Editor-in-Chief.

 Manuscript must be submitted with a cover letter from the corresponding author implies that the all authors have approved the paper for release and are in agreement with its content.

The authors are encouraged to be a member of the Japanese Society of Brachyspira but are not required. The submitted manuscript will be assigned to an editor and reviewed by independent reviewers. Editors may ask authors to revise the manuscript before accept for publication or rejection. Submission of original paper implied that it has not been published previously, that is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, and that if accepted it will not be published elsewhere in the same form in any language, without the written consent of the Society.

Preparation of Manuscript in English

 The manuscript must be type-written, double-spaced, with wide margins (minimum 25 mm all side on one side of good quality white B5 (182x257 mm) paper. Good quality typescripts with a font size of 12 pt are required. The corresponding author should be identified in including a fax number and email address. Authors are advised to consult a recent issue of the journal for style if possible. The editors reserve the right to adjust style to certain standards of uniformity. Submitted manuscript will not be returned to authors and Society cannot accept responsibility for damage or loss of papers so authors must retain a copy of their manuscript.

 The manuscript should be prepared following sections: 1) Title page; 2) Summary; 3) Text; 4) References; 5) Figure legend(s); 6) Table(s) with legend; 7) Figures(s). Acknowledgment(s) must be placed at the last part of Text with a line margin. Above each section must be written on separate sheets, each table and figure must be placed on separate sheet(s) and all pages must be numbered consecutively. Japanese author(s) are requested to attach a separate sheet with a Japanese title, name(s) and affiliation(s) and address(es) of author(s) in Japanese and Japanese summary of the manuscript. The authors who are not native in English are advised to be checked their manuscript by person who are talented in English before submission (Native speaker correction).

Title page

 The first page should show: 1) the title; 2) name(s) of author(s); 3) affiliation(s) and address(es); 4) the name, address, phone and fax number and email address of the author to whom all correspondence should be addressed; 5) key words (3 to 5). Use one complete title rather than a title and subtitle.

 

Summary

 Summary should not exceed 300 words. Abbreviation can be used.

 

Text

 The text usually contains Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion. Author(s) may prepare a combined “Results and Discussion” and author(s) may prepare a Conclusion.

 Headings: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and other major headings should be typed with one line margins. Major section of the text can be divided into subheads. Subheads should be typed in flush left on the line with italic face.

 Note: In review and proceedings, it is not necessary to follow above orders. Author(s) can choose most appropriate order to discuss the subject.

 

References

 Submitted papers or unpublished oral presentations may not be listed as references; cite them in text as unpublished data or personal communications. Cite all references to previously published papers or paper in press in alphabetical order in text with number like, [1], [2,3], or [4-6]. List references numerically in “References” in styles of exampled shown below. If a number of authors exceeds three, please write the first three with “, et al”. Abbreviation of journal title should be standard, along such as the Index Medicus.

Table

 Each table must be typed on separate sheet. Tables should be numbered consecutively and given a suitable capitation. Footnotes to tables should be types below the table and should be referred to by superscript lowercase letters (like a,b,c). No vertical rules should be used. Tables should not duplicate results presented elsewhere in the manuscript.

 

Figure

 Each figure must be made in separate sheet. All figures should be provided in camera-ready form, suitable for reproduction (which may include reduction) without retouching. Original photographs must be supplied as they are to be reproduced (black and white). Color photographs may be used with extra charge for author.

                         

Nomenclature

 Name of chemicals should conform to the International Union for Pure and Applied chemistry (IUPAC) nomenclature and biochemical terms to those of the International Union of Biochemistry (IUB). Trade names or proprietary names should be avoided. Zoological names and botanical names should be written in italics.

 

Measurement, Signs, Symbols and Abbreviations

 Units of measurements should be metric system (SI units) and numerals should be Arabic. Omit periods after units of measurement and do not use plural, e.g. Km, m, cm, mm, mm, nm, L(liter), ML, μL, kg, g, μg, %, μg/kg, v/v, mp, pH, mol/L, mmol/L, D, L, DL(structural arrangement), [α](special rotation), o-, m-, p-, d(dextro)-, l(levo)-ect. Use mg/kg or μg/kg instead of ppm or ppb. Full species names should be given the first time that the organism is mentioned. Names may subsequently be abbreviated. Unstandard abbreviation should not be used without description.

 

Electronic submission with the final accepted version of the manuscript

 Authors should submit and electronic copy of their paper, including tables and figures if possible with the final accepted version of the manuscript. The electronic copy should match the hardcopy exactly. The electronic copy should be stored on a CD-ROM or an attached file of email with standard format for the software used (indicate file names, name(s) and version(s) of software used).

 

Review & Proof

 The authors are responsible for reading the first galley proof. The authors must check the proof carefully and return it within four days or before the day indicated on the proof. No change of the content of the paper is permitted on the galley proof. If too many corrections for spelling errors, grammatical errors and/or incorrect data are made against the original manuscript, the author may be changed for corrections.

 

Reprint

 Reprints order forms are sent to authors along with galley proof. The authors can order reprints with charge. The author should indicate the total number of reprints desired, consolidating orders for all coauthors (minimum 50 copies, multiple of 50 copies).

 

Copyright

 The Japanese Society of Brachyspira holds the copyright to all contents published in ‘Brachyspira’. The copyright covers the exclusive and unlimited rights to reproduce and distribute and article in any form of reproduction (printing, electronic or any other form). Republication or reproduction of any material appearing in ‘Brachyspira’ should not be done without written permission from the society.

 

Errata

 The authors can send corrections to a paper published in the last 4 months to the Editor; they would be published in an Errata Section in the next available issue by author’s expense.

 

Technical note

 This is a special section which provides useful but not complete information forBrachyspira research. The authors should prepare the note following the instruction to authors for ‘Brachyspira’ and special information for the note below.

 

Special information for Technical note

 In this section, an improvement of technique(s) concerning Brachyspira research can be reported as a short form, less than one printed page. The authors should submit three copies of note to the Society with cover letter from corresponding author. The note should contain title, name affiliation and address of author(s), text, figure and table and references. The editor will review the note and may ask authors to revise the note before accept for publication or reject. The Society will not produce reprints of this section.
